Stringing Fall Blogging Carnival

I have been anxiously awaiting the fall issue of Stringing magazine because it is the second issue my jewelry has been published in.  Stringing magazine was one of the first magazines I started buying when I first started making jewelry.  I just love the magazine, and I always find tons of inspiration in it.  You can see why I was so excited when two of my designs were accepted back in April!  In addition, I agreed to participate in a Fall Stringing Blog Carnival between all the designers in this issue, which should be on newstands today!  Michelle Mach is hosting the Carnival, and you can find out more information on her blog about some giveaways she is having as part of the celebration.  All you will need to do is comment on one or more of the 24 designers' blogs to be entered.

EDIT: I don't know if anyone noticed, but I didn't have a chance to finish my blog post before I got called into work, so I had to just post it as is.  I just wanted to add a little more about my jewelry and explain my inspiration for the pieces.  As many of you know, I love owls and have loved them for many years.  Recently they have become very popular, and, much to my delight, many designers have been creating owl beads and pendants.  I had been experimenting with stamping metal when I created my "HOOT" stamped owl pendant.  It was this pendant that I used for inspiration in my owl necklace.  I wanted it to have a fall color scheme, so I used beads in shades of browns, dark greens and oranges.  I thought copper was a perfect compliment to the fall colors.  I also like having more than one type of metal for contrast so I went with a silver owl charm and used a silver ring for the clasp.  I had fun creating this necklace, and it is perfect for fall fashions!

The silver leaf earrings were, honestly, a very rushed design!  A pair of earrings that I had submitted to the magazine was not accepted, so I decided to rush and make another pair of earrings to get in just before the deadline.  I've found that I often work better under pressure and deadlines!  Sometimes I contemplate too much on a design and keep changing it.  I just immediately had an idea for the design of the earrings when I looked at my stash of silver leaf charms, and it went together easily and as planned.  I love the look of the filigree leaves and think they are cute for fall or any time of the year!
